How to Fix Real Person Image Errors in Atlabs (Step-by-Step, 2026)

Atlabs blocks motion on a scene when the character in that scene's image looks like a photo of a real person. The fix takes a few minutes: redraw the narrator as an illustration, then regenerate motion for only the scenes that failed. The rest of your video stays as it is.

This happens most when you cast a realistic human narrator in an Explainer Video. Most of your scenes animate fine, and then two or three come back refused. That pattern is your clue: the refused scenes are the ones where the narrator came out looking photographed.

Atlabs is also covered in a Pinion Newswire roundup of AI animated explainer video tools.

What you'll need

You need a story made in the Explainer Video workflow, open in the editor. You need a paid plan, because Full Video is locked on the Free plan. You need credits for the scenes you redo, since every motion run spends credits.

Write down which scenes failed before you start. You only fix those. Everything else already animated, so leave it alone.

Step-by-step: fix the scenes that failed

1. Open the failed scene

Open your story in the editor and click the first scene that failed. Look at the scene image closely.

2. Check if the narrator looks photographed

A photo-real narrator has real skin texture, camera style lighting and often a blurred photo background. If you uploaded a real photo of a person on the Cast step, every scene with that narrator is at risk. Either of these is what triggered the block.

3. Redraw the narrator as an illustration

Open the Visual panel and click Edit Image. Type a prompt that turns the narrator into a drawing and keeps everything else, for example: redraw the narrator as an illustrated character, same clothes, same pose, same background.

Check the new image. The narrator should look drawn, not photographed. Your earlier image is still kept in the Visual panel, so you can go back to it.

4. Regenerate motion for this scene only

Open the Motion panel for the same scene and regenerate its motion. Do not use generate all motion. Your other scenes already worked, and redoing them spends credits for nothing.

Play the scene. It should now move.

5. Repeat for the other failed scenes

Go through each failed scene the same way: redraw in the Visual panel, then regenerate in the Motion panel.

6. Fix a copyright block on a scene

Some scenes get blocked for a copyright reason instead. Open the Motion panel for that scene and rewrite the prompt with no names of real people, brands, films, TV shows, songs or famous characters. Describe the action in plain words, such as the narrator walking down a calm hospital corridor to the nurses' station. Then regenerate motion for that scene only.

If the block comes back, check the scene image for a logo, a famous character or a product label. Remove it with Edit Image in the Visual panel, then try motion again.

All scenes moving again? Your next episode can avoid this from the start in Explainer Video.

Step-by-step: stop it in your next episode

Fixing scenes one by one works for one video. For a series, set up the narrator right from the start. The Explainer Video workflow has four steps: Script, Style, Cast and Screenplay.

7. Start the next episode and add your script

Open Explainer Video and paste your script, or write an idea and let Atlabs build the screenplay.

8. Pick an illustrated style on the Style step

Choose an illustrated style from the list, not a photographic one. This is the one choice that stops the error before it starts.

The Style step: pick an illustrated look so your narrator never reads as a real photo.

9. Cast the narrator from the Character Library

On the Cast step, don't upload a real photo of a person. Pick your narrator from the Character Library instead. A library pick is restyled to match the story's style, so the narrator comes out illustrated and looks the same in every episode.

Check every cast portrait before you go on. If a face still looks like a photograph, regenerate that portrait now. It costs far less here than after the full render.

10. Check the Screenplay

Read the scenes on the Screenplay step. Keep real names, brands and show titles out of the scene text, so you don't hit a copyright block later.

The Screenplay step: plain scene text avoids copyright blocks later.

11. Preview with Video Teaser, then render

In the Finalise dialog, choose Video Teaser instead of Storyboard or Full Video. It animates up to 4 opening scenes into a 20 to 25 second clip. If the narrator moves well, render the Full Video.

Tips for better results

Don't mix looks in one episode. A few illustrated scenes inside a photo-real video look uneven. If many scenes failed, rebuild the episode with an illustrated style and your library narrator, then preview with Video Teaser.

Ignore lip sync for this error. In Explainer Video, characters never speak. Every line is narration, so only motion needs fixing.

Save your narrator once. Library characters carry across stories. That is how one narrator stays the same through a whole series, with no separate series setting needed.

Keep prompts plain. Describe actions and places, not people or brands by name. "A nurse checks a clipboard at the ward desk" works. A real person's name in the prompt does not.

FAQ

Why does Atlabs block motion for a realistic narrator?

Motion is refused when a scene image looks like a photo of a real person. Scenes where the narrator looks drawn animate normally, which is why only some scenes fail.

Do I have to redo my whole video?

No. Fix only the failed scenes: redraw the narrator with Edit Image in the Visual panel, then regenerate motion for that scene in the Motion panel.

Will my narrator look the same in every episode?

Yes, if you pick the narrator from the Character Library on the Cast step each time. A library pick is restyled to the story's style, so it stays consistent across episodes.

Does lip sync have the same problem?

Lip sync isn't part of Explainer Video. Characters appear on screen but never speak, and all lines are narration.

Your next episode can skip this error from the first scene. Make it in Explainer Video, pick an illustrated style, cast your narrator from the library and preview with Video Teaser.
